The following sites are sites with which BlakJak.net has positive relationships:
Modica Group - the great folks providing hosting for BlakJak.net
Kiwi Radio - formerly about Radio and stuff, it's now a weather station in the Bay of Plenty.
Paraparaumu Volunteer Fire Brigade - another sponsored site about the Pram Brigade, includes photos and recent call details.
Toyspeed - Toyspeed is a Toyota Car Club for whom I host Images and a Profiles Database. I like to think that they (mostly) cut against the 'Boyracer' grain.
Matt Pooles site. Hosted by BlakJak.net, Matt has no fear of stating his opinions - and now he has a blog... (!)
Everything in a car and
Everything in a car and outside for that matter is a distraction to a driver...... once theyve banned cellphones, they will come up with something else to claim is causing distractions to the driver such as the radio, the gps unit, the extra gauges youve installed etc etc.......
The driver needs to be able to block everything out but its impossible.
I'll probably buy a Blueant Bluetooth unit for the car (my BT headset is a bit iffy) but was planning on doing it before the govt made the announcement anyway.
Something you would probably be able to answer BJ, whats the story with CB Radios etc.... whats the difference between them and a cellphone in a car really ? (Maybe there is some law for them but I dont know :) And no, Im not bringing it up to take a dig at you, Im just curious :) )

Welcome to the Nanny State.
Welcome to the Nanny State.
We're heading toward a situation where they'll have to insulate us from our own stupidity because noones perfect.... imagine what they'll have to do?
I can't use Bluetooth on my work phone (it's not enabled on the device) so I don't have a choice but to use the crappy OEM cabled one. Which I can't wear.
I might see if I can conn work into getting me an aftermarket one that goes over-ear. It's the in-ear-buds that I can't wear.
Still a pain in the backside, and still a knee-jerk by the Nanny-State in my personal opinion.
Oh, and re CB's etc, until they specify it in law it's still legal to use them. That's more of the stupidity - but worthy of note is that the issue is around the fact that cellphones are ubiquitous these days (everyone has one) and they all have text messaging capabilities now (which is probably the largest factor of all). So by killing the use of cellphones they will pick off the largest proportion of idiots and make the numbers look better.
Until the 'next big thing' comes along.
